Hardware Designed to Grow
The Millennium offers the very best technology available - ISDN support, distributed processing, and HDLC control. The system's innovative approach to hardware design allows the Millennium to grow in 64, 128, or 256 port increments, up to 1024 ports. Because there are a minimal number of physical components and an intelligent complement of circuit cards, the Millennium requires very little installation time, reducing both cost and disruption of service during a system cut-over.

Ease of Modular Growth
The Millennium is designed in a building-block fashion, catering to the specific needs of each end user. As the demands of a business increase, Millennium grows, protecting your hardware investment. The system is available in several configurations, each with several growth plans.

The 8-slot cabinet provides seven 16 port card slots, for a total of 128 available ports. The 8-slot cabinet may be expanded by adding two 4-slot expansion cabinets for a total of 256 ports, creating a full shelf.

The 16-slot cabinet provides up to 256 available ports and is functionally equivalent (15 card slots) to the 8-slot cabinet with two 4-slot expansion cabinet installed. A 16-slot system may be further expanded by stacking a second, third and fourth 16-slot cabinet, thus increasing the system capacity to 1024 ports.

Building a Millennium
The Millennium is built upon two types of cards, control and interface. The control cards consist of the Power supply, system Controller, Common Services Card in single cabinet configurations, and the Concentrator Cards or Fiber Cards in multi-shelf or remote shelf configurations.

Interface Cards
2-Wire Digital Station Card
The 2WDSC provides sixteen 2-wire U interfaces, each with one 64 KBPS B-channel, and one 16 KBPS D-channel. This card supports 16 2-wire Millennium telephones up to 9,000 feet away and 12,000 feet using local power. It also supports standard ISDN terminals needing only one B-channel.

U-interface Line Card
The ULC provides eight u-loops, each with two 64 KBPS B-channels, and one 16 KBPS D-channel. This card supports 8 ISDN data devices, such as terminal adapters, routers, audio devices and video conferencing systems. It also supports Millennium digital telephones up to 10,000 feet away using a NT-1.

Analog Line Card
The ALC is also a 16-port card that supports Loop/Ground start trunks, TIE lines, DID Trunks, and single line telephones. Baby boards at each port define its function.

T-1 Card
The T-1/PRI card provides a 1.544 MBPS digital interface. ANI information from these channels may be displayed at the telephone as well as in the SMDR record.

E-1 Card
The E-1/PRI card provides the European standard 2.048 MBPS digital interface. R1, R2 and Russian implementation of E-1 are also supported. All protocols and features supported by the T-1 /PRI card are available on the E-1 card.

Fiber Interface Card
The Fiber Interface Card, with fiber optic cable, extends the distance, up to two kilometers, a shelf may be placed from the hub site in Millennium multi-shelf sites. The system may be configured with the primary, or "hub" site, and three remote shelves.

Remote Fiber Interface Card
Companion to the Fiber Interface Card, the Remote Fiber Interface enables remote shelf operation with 8-slot, 16-slot, or a combination of the cabinets.

IPConnect Station Card
The IPConnect Station Card (IPSC) provides an industry standard TCP/IP interface. It provides up to 32 concurrent IP users with 100% non– blocking voice communications between IP stations, and digital & analog trunks. It is also compatible with many third party SIP compliant desktop devices and WiFi wireless phones
